In 2008 the Sheffield Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to 406 emergency calls for service. Of those calls for service our Department responded to 265 medical calls and 141 Fire related calls.
In other news, as part of a Homeland Security grant secured by Tippecanoe County the Sheffield Township Fire Department has taken delivery of a new Holmatro compact extrication unit. The compact pump is combined with a combitation spreader/cutter tool and is being utilized as a quick response tool for auto extrication and rescue. As part of the same grant the department has also taken delivery of an ISG Thermal Imaging Camera. This camera was installed on the primary response pumper, allowing the departments older camera to be moved to the secondary pumper so each apparatus has thermal camera capabilities. The new equipment has been delivered and is currently in service with the department.
