Sheffield Township Volunteer Fire Department

News Releases

The Sheffield Township Fire Department has purchased an Elite Custom Fire Rescue Pumper to be delivered in 2007. The new combination pumper/rescue truck will be the primary response truck for all traffic crashes, hazardous material and rescue incidents. The truck will also serve as a secondary pumper for all fire related incidents. The truck is currently under construction and the department plans to take delivery in the Fall of 2007.

In other news, as part of a Homeland Security grant secured by Tippecanoe County the Sheffield Township Fire Department has taken delivery of a new Holmatro compact extrication unit. The compact pump is combined with a combitation spreader/cutter tool and is being utilized as a quick response tool for auto extrication and rescue. As part of the same grant the department has also taken delivery of an ISG Thermal Imaging Camera. This camera was installed on the primary response pumper, allowing the departments older camera to be moved to the secondary pumper so each apparatus has thermal camera capabilities. The new equipment has been delivered and is currently in service with the department.
